Fifth Eastern Winery Exposition Sells out Trade Show Floor for 2016

LANCASTER, PA—The fifth annual Eastern Winery Exposition, the largest production wine industry conference and trade show east of the Rockies, has sold out its trade show floor for the third year in a row. Located at the Lancaster Marriott and Convention Center in Lancaster, PA, the Eastern Winery Exposition’s sold-out trade show will include 184 exhibiting companies featuring a large variety of equipment, products and services for commercial vineyards and wineries.

The trade show takes place March 9-10, running in tandem with the two-day Conference program focused on viticulture, enology and marketing/money/management issues. Tuesday, March 8 kickstarts the event with two day-long workshops, one led by Lucie Morton on the relationship of fine wine to soils, the other featuring a panel of experts candidly sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly along their roads to successful wineries.

In addition to the sold out exhibit hall and exceptional conference program, Show Manager Bob Mignarri said he “is thrilled that attendee registration is the best ever at 33 days prior to the event and that so many eastern wineries and vineyards view the Eastern Winery Exposition as the one industry event they look forward to attending each year.”

The Eastern Winery Exposition is the largest vineyard & winery trade show and conference east of the Pacific states. It is designed to provide the Eastern U.S. and Canadian wineries and vineyards with an easily accessible, low-cost professional meeting with a variety of winery and vineyard suppliers, at the right time of year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
License to Steal Wine Marketing Conference to Partner with the 2017 Eastern Winery Exposition

Syracuse, NY—The sixth annual Eastern Winery Exposition (EWE) announced the co-location and collaboration of the License to Steal Wine Marketing Conference and the Eastern Winery Exposition, March 22-24 at the Oncenter in Syracuse, NY.

License to Steal (LTS) is produced by the Ohio Wine Producers Association and has traditionally been held in April in Geneva, OH. The program emphasizes strategies, approaches, and niche network strategies with the goal of generating winery revenue and profitability. It is geared to owners, operators, general managers, marketers, tourism professionals, and anyone in a winery that has a responsibility to impact sales results. LTS is a perennial favorite and with its focus on wine marketing issues as explained here particular to Eastern states and markets, it is a natural fit for EWE. The program is chaired by Donniella Winchell, Executive Director of the Ohio Wine Producers Association. LTS will take place March 23-24, 2017.

EWE is the largest production wine industry conference and trade show east of the Rockies dedicated to wineries and growers. The event features a full day of in-depth, theme-focused Workshops on March 22, followed by a two-day Conference with sessions on Viticulture, Enology and Marketing, and a trade show featuring 200+ industry exhibitors. Wines & Vines is the official sponsor of EWE and Practical Business Solutions is the Official Conference sponsor.

EWE was held in Lancaster, PA, in March 2016. The previous year’s EWE took place in Syracuse and received great reviews from both attendees and exhibitors. The proximity to the wine regions of New York and Ontario is one of many advantages Syracuse provides as a location for both events.

“I am very pleased and excited to welcome License to Steal and its attendees to Syracuse to co-locate with the Eastern Winery Exposition,” declared Show Manager, Bob Mignarri. “Our large trade show and numerous networking and social events will be a big draw for LTS attendees. And Donnie Winchell’s experience in marketing programming and her network of marketing experts will benefit the entire Eastern industry.”

Added Donniella Winchell, “License to Steal is elated to be partnering with the largest and most respected wine conference and trade show in the East. After 12 years of offering a stand-alone marketing event, the EWE venue will allow LTS attendees to continue sharing dynamic marketing ideas but with an even wider audience during two energizing days in Syracuse. Attendees will not only have access to an exceptional collection of vendors in the trade show but also to mingle and network at social functions with those who annually participate in EWE.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Registration Now Open for the 2017 Eastern Winery Exposition in Syracuse, NY

SYRACUSE, NY—The Eastern Winery Exposition (EWE), the largest trade show and conference for the wine and grape industries east of the Rockies opened registration at 1:00 p.m. today at EasternWineryExposition.com. EWE, now in its sixth year, will take place at the Oncenter in Syracuse, NY from March 22-24. A day of two single-theme workshops takes place March 22, featuring New Containers, Closures and Bottling Issues and Fruit Wine, Mead and Cider. On March 23-24 the two-day conference takes place with sessions addressing viticulture, enology, and money, marketing & management issues. The trade show, featuring more than 200 industry suppliers, opens at 11:00 a.m. on March 23 and runs through 2:30 p.m. on March 24. In 2015, the last year EWE took place in Syracuse, over 1,000 industry members attended.

Show Manager Bob Mignarri mentioned two noteworthy developments for 2017. First, the co-location of the License to Steal wine marketing conference, March 23-24. With its focus on wine marketing issues particular to Eastern states and markets, it is a natural fit for EWE. Second, the opening of the five-star Marriott hotel located just two blocks from the Oncenter. Mignarri visited the new hotel recently and was quite impressed by the multi-million dollar renovation. He believes it – and the close proximity to EWE – will be well received by participants.

Mignarri also noted that those who register early will receive the largest discounts. Early bird rates run through December 21, advance rates through February 28, and pre-show rates through March 21. For example, those who register for the Workshop+Conference pass would save $150.00 by registering at the Early Bird rate, rather than at the conference itself.

Who Should Attend: EWE is a production wine industry conference and trade show designed for the specific issues and needs of vineyards and wineries east of the Rockies, and has stayed true to the commitment of a wine and grape-focused program. Accordingly, it is a valuable resource for any commercial vineyard and winery owners, operators and employees, whether in the start-up phase or the expansion phase. Conference content is geared towards both the newcomer and the veteran alike.

The Eastern Winery Exposition is sponsored by Wines & Vines and Practical Business Solutions and is supported by 23 state and industry associations.

Eastern Winery Exposition, the East’s Largest Industry Event, to Take Place March 22-24 in Syracuse, NY

SYRACUSE, NY—The Eastern Winery Exposition, now in its sixth year, is the largest trade show and conference for the wine and grape industries east of the Rockies. And all indicators point to a larger event than ever. EWE was last in Syracuse in 2015 with over 1,000 industry members in attendance. Now, still three months in advance of the 2017 event, 200 industry members have already registered.

The trade show, with more than 190 exhibiting companies under contract (also ahead of last year’s figures), opens at 11:00 a.m. on March 23 and runs through 2:30 p.m. on March 24.

A day of two single-theme workshops takes place March 22, featuring New Containers, Closures and Bottling Issues, and Fruit Wine, Mead and Cider. On March 23-24 the two-day conference takes place with 20 sessions addressing viticulture, enology, and money, marketing & management issues. The program is 100% grape and wine focused and designed to offer practical, take-home information to improve a vineyard or winery’s bottom line for a range of attendees, from those in the planning stages to industry veterans.

Two popular wine and grape events will also take place in conjunction with the 2017 EWE. The Wine Sensory Analysis Workshop, for those seeking a deeper understanding of wine sensory evaluation and its impact on a winery’s success, kicks the week off March 20-21. The License to Steal wine marketing conference, the event where wineries, growers and ancillary entities willingly contribute and collaborate on marketing ideas, takes place March 23-24. With the LTS focus on wine marketing issues particular to Eastern states and markets, it is a natural fit for EWE.

EWE rounds out with multiple networking and social events, a blogging station, meet the authors, and more. Those who register early will receive the largest discounts. Advance rate discounts run through February 28, and Pre-show rates through March 21.

This year, fruit winemakers, mead makers and cider makers will also find the Wednesday workshop on these beverages worthwhile, and many of their production products for sale at the trade show. The Eastern Winery Exposition is sponsored by Wines & Vines and Practical Business Solutions and is supported by 24 state and industry associations.

2017 EWE “Lifetime Achievement” Award Given to the Forests of Buckingham Valley Vineyards, PA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2017 EWE “Lifetime Achievement” Award Given to the Forests of Buckingham Valley Vineyards, PA

SYRACUSE, NY—The 2017 annual Lifetime Achievement Award was presented at the Eastern Winery Exposition’s celebration dinner on March 22nd to Jerry and Kathy Forest of Buckingham Valley Vineyards in southeastern Pennsylvnia.

Their first permanent planting of 10 acres was planted in 1968. Wine production was less than 1,000 to start but rose to 30,000 gallons 30 years later, and a great deal more currently.

“We started a vineyard in 1966 with the goal of growing grapes, making wine, and living happily ever after. We’re still working on the ‘ever after’ part,” says the proprietor. “In just fifty short years we turned a $2,000 investment into a multi-million dollar business. Now with three generations involved.”

He explained, “Our winery philosophy is to make a limited amount of consistently good wine and offer it at a reasonable price, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.” They sell only direct to consumers, no distributors, delivery, state stores, supermarkets or restaurants. “That’s by design; the profit margin is just not there,” he says.

Looking back on the past 50 years, he reflects “What’s not to enjoy? We have no boss, no budgets or quotas, the business is highly automated, profitable and debt-free, and we get to work with and spend time with our children and grandchildren. We are all deeply involved in our community and other interests.”

Jerry has always been willing to help his industry colleagues by speaking at EWE and other industry events, and his commitment to the larger community is shown by his serving on the EWE conference advisory board.

His personal philosophy? “Happiness is a journey, not a destination” (anonymous), and “ A man’s gotta know his limitations” (Dirty Harry Callahan).

The Eastern Winery Exposition is sponsored by Wines & Vines and Practical Business Solutions and is supported by 24 state and industry associations.
