Bruce Zoecklein, PhD
Virginia Tech

Bruce worked in the California wine industry and taught Enology at California State University-Fresno prior to coming to Virginia Tech in 1985. His education includes: BS Microbiology/Biochemistry, MS Horticulture and Ph.D. Food Science. He conducted research, extension, classroom, graduate student education and created the Virginia Tech Enology Service Laboratory. He has co-authored books on wine chemistry and analysis (including Wine Analysis and Production), numerous book chapters, research, trade, and extension publications. He has received teaching, research and extension awards, including the American Society for Enology and Viticulture eastern section 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award. He is a member of the Editorial Board of several scientific journals and trade publications and has consulted in numerous countries. Bruce has been involved in winery design and planning for wineries around the world, is a Wine Institute certified sustainable auditor and is the editor of Winery Planning and Design, a CD and web-based publication.
