Eric Amberg

Owner & General Manager

Eric is an accomplished viticulturist and the owner and general manager of Amberg Grapevines, LLC, a family business founded by his father Herman Amberg in 1957. With a deep-rooted passion for grape cultivation and winemaking, Eric has dedicated his career to advancing sustainable practices in the industry.

Under Eric’s leadership, Amberg Grapevines has grown to become a key supplier of NY-Certified and non-certified grafted and own-rooted grapevines, serving the eastern three-quarters of the U.S. and Canada. A significant focus of the nursery is on developing new and sustainable grape varieties, including PIWI’s from Europe and selections from Cornell and other American breeders. Eric believes these varieties will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Eastern grape and wine industry.

Eric has 35 years of professional experience in vineyard management, winemaking, grape nursery management, and consulting, He is actively involved in advancing industry standards and practices, serving on several boards including the National Clean Plant Network, Grapes; the Ontario County Farm Bureau; and the Finger Lakes Grape Program Advisory Committee.
