Owner & Vineyard Manager

Eric is a second generation owner at Linganore. The Aellen family started growing grapes in 1972 after purchasing a dairy farm in the rolling hills of Mount Airy, Maryland. After finishing college, Eric came back to the farm to take over the vineyards. Over the last 30 years, their vineyard has expanded to more than 80 acres with a diverse mix of hybrid and vinifera varieties. The recent expansion of five acres include VCR (Italian) and PIWI (German) clones. His grapes have been used to produce award-winning wines in the state, including Albariño, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Traminette and Saperavi.
