Jennifer Phillips Russo

Cornell Viticulture Specialist

Jennifer’s work at the Lake Erie Regional Grape Program brings local experience and research-based solutions together to provide projects aimed at increasing yields, product  quality, diversity and improvement of cultivars, efficiency of production, profitability and adoption of environmentally sound cultural management strategies. Emphasis is on soil and grapevine health, site selection, growth control, nutrition and water management, and harvest management. As part of the Efficient Vineyard Project, Jennifer has worked to help growers and industry to better evaluate the amount of crop in their vineyards and in the industry belt-wide, respectively. Understanding this is an important starting point as we progress through the growing season and are able to implement variable rate vineyard management. She has been instrumental in developing new technology to assist with the process.
