Assistant Professor of Forest Health, Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation

Dr. Carrie Fearer graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in environmental science. She specialized in forest pathology during her doctoral work through her research on identifying the causal agent of the newly emerged beech leaf disease. After graduating, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Purdue University and the University of New Hampshire before becoming an assistant professor in the Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation at Virginia Tech in 2023. Her research program at Virginia Tech focuses on developing innovative methods to control nonnative, invasive species.
