Assistant Winemaker

Diego joined Casanel Vineyards & Winery in northern Virginia during the 2024 harvest. He completed a college degree in agronomy with an emphasis on winemaking and viticulture from the Pontifical Catholic University in his native Santiago, Chile. After graduating, he earned his Winemakers License and started traveling within Chile and globally to gain more knowledge and exposure to different terroirs and ways to make wine. This led him to participate in harvests in emblematic wine regions such as Saint-Émilion, France; Marlborough, New Zealand; Willamette, Oregon; Mendocino, California; and the most important wine regions in Chile.
