Jesse Powers


Born and raised in Frederick, MD, Jesse always had a passion for food and science. After studying biology and working in a lab, he grew bored of the monotony and went to culinary school at L’Academie de Cuisine, where he fell in love with fine dining, fermentation, and molecular gastronomy. Ignited by his passion, he strived to learn more and ventured to Big Cork Vineyards (Rohrersville, MD), then worked harvest at Windridge Vineyards (Darnestown, MD), before becoming assistant winemaker at Tarara Winery (Leesburg, VA). He then finished the Winemaking Program at Penn State Berks, and became winemaker at Blue Valley Vineyard (Delaplane, VA). In 2021 Jesse took over as winemaker at Catoctin Breeze Vineyard (Thurmont, MD) and is ecstatic to make premium wines in his home state.
