John Halbrendt

John received a PhD in plant pathology from the University of Missouri in 1985 where he specialized in the study of plant-parasitic nematodes. In 1988 he was hired by Penn State University to develop a research and extension program that focused on nematode management in fruit production. For more than 25 years John’s lab provided diagnostic services and education to the fruit industry and tested new ideas and commercial products for nematode management. In 2001 John planted his own five acre commercial vineyard and became a hobby winemaker. After retiring from Penn State in 2014 he and his wife opened Halbrendt’s Vineyard & Winery, LLC
