John has been growing vinifera grapes in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 20 years. He focuses on cool climate varieties such as Riesling, Lemberger a k a Blaufrankisch, Pinot Noir and Gruener Veltliner. John currently bottles seven varieties of 100% estate wines under the Ox-Eye label but continues to experiment with cool climate varieties always searching for the best grapes for the site.
