Managing Partner
Julie Peterson has more than 25 years of experience in international business development and marketing, including work with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Bank, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). For the past 18 years, she has helped wine regions achieve record growth in the U.S. market.
Working behind the scenes, Peterson has shaped some of the wine industry’s strongest category-growth stories. In 2008, she launched dry rosé in the U.S. for the Wines of Provence and led the region’s U.S. strategy for nine years. In 2015, she introduced Georgian wine to the U.S. market, spent seven years building the category, and still guides its growth through trade training and strategic market initiatives. She has also helped advance other storied categories, including Madeira, the Crus of Beaujolais, and the Jura.
Peterson, who grew up on a farm in Iowa, now applies that experience to market development programs for North American wine regions, including Maryland, North Carolina, and Niagara-on-the-Lake. She consults and lectures across the U.S. and beyond and has long served on several nonprofit boards.
