Ron graduated from NC State in 1993 with a degree in Horticulture and worked in landscape design for 6 years. In 1999 he started managing vineyards. Since 2006 he has worked as the vineyard manager for Boordy Vineyards located in Hydes, MD. He works with many growers in the Mid-Atlantic region to improve wine quality. Boordy’s philosophy is that “a rising tide lifts all boats” and they like to share their long-term experiences with other growers. Ron enjoys working with others on how not only to avoid making the mistakes of the past, but also his successes as well. He has experience growing 20 different varieties of grapes, using five canopy trellis/training styles, and many different types of soils in three distinct geographic regions in Maryland. Ron will be discussing his experiences with growing Cabernet Sauvignon in different regional environments.
