Fourth Annual Eastern Winery Exposition Moves to Syracuse, March 2015

SYRACUSE, NY—The fourth annual Eastern Winery Exposition (EWE) will take place March 17-19, 2015, at The Oncenter in Syracuse, New York. With 225 trade show booths already sold, EWE is now the largest winery and vineyard trade show and conference east of the Pacific states and the largest show of its kind ever to be held in New York State.

Exhibitor response to the Syracuse move has been extremely positive and Show Manager Bob Mignarri credits the move as a contributing factor to the show’s continued rapid growth.

Proximity to the wine regions of New York and Ontario is one of many advantages Syracuse provides as a location for the 2015 EWE. Syracuse, the economic hub of Central New York, offers affordability, easy accessibility by air, car and train, great diversity in shops and restaurants, Destiny, a shopping and entertainment megaplex, a world-famous zoo, and Syracuse University.

The three-day Eastern Winery Exposition begins Tuesday, March 17, with two day-long Workshops, one to feature vineyard and winery start-ups, the other tailored to vineyards and wineries growing from small to mid-, or mid- to large-size operations. A welcome wine reception Tuesday evening provides opportunities for networking and socializing. The two-day conference, along with the trade show, kicks off on Wednesday and features sessions focused in four areas: Viticulture, Enology, Cold Climate Grapes and Marketing, Money and Management.

Conference Manager Richard Leahy announced that researchers from nearby Cornell University will present two conference sessions reflecting Cornell’s most recent research findings in Viticulture and Enology, in addition to practical extension sessions.

Additionally, Cornell Senior Extension Associate Tim Martinson, also Project Director of the Northern Grapes Project, will lead a series of sessions focused on issues for cold-climate grapes. The Northern Grapes Symposium takes place within the EWE conference Wednesday, March 18.

The full conference program and speaker roster will be available online in mid-October. Employees of wineries who are members of the sponsoring Seneca and Cayuga Lake Wine Trails, as well as the members of 16 other industry associations and organizations, will receive a ten percent discount on EWE registration.

The Eastern Winery Exposition is an Eastern-focused wine industry trade show and conference designed to provide the Eastern U.S. and Canadian wineries and vineyards with an easily accessible, low-cost professional meeting with a large number of winery and vineyard suppliers, at the right time of year. The Eastern Winery Exposition & ASEV-ES Team Up for Another Year of FUNdraising

SYRACUSE, NY—The Eastern Winery Exposition has partnered with the Eastern Section of the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV-ES) for a second year and will offer two separate auctions in Syracuse during the 2015 Eastern Winery Exposition (EWE).

“We like to say we put the FUN in fundraising” notes Lisa Smiley, ASEV-ES Chair, “with two spirited and fun events. More importantly, the proceeds resulting from the auctions support the future of the industry with scholarship funding for students pursuing careers in Enology and Viticulture.”

The Live Auction will be held during EWE’s Fourth Annual Industry Celebration Dinner on March 18. ASEV-ES will auction donated items with a minimum value of $300 each. The Silent Auction features a range of low to high-value items and takes place during the EWE trade show March 18-19.

“This will be the largest fundraiser this year for our scholarship program,” says Renee Threlfall, ASEV-ES Section Administrator, and a previous scholarship recipient herself. “Since 2007 the efforts and support of generous donors, bidders, and organizations such as the Eastern Winery Exposition have provided nearly $75,000 toward this program. The impact past recipients have had on the wine industry nationwide is priceless.”

Adds Jodi Creasap Gee, ASEV-ES Past Chair, “we are excited to once again be working with Bob Mignarri, Richard Leahy, and Marcia Gulino at EWE. They are very supportive of ASEV-ES and are truly a pleasure to work with!”

ASEV scholarships for the 2013-15 academic years have benefited multiple students from Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

ASEV is grateful for the generous contributions to its fundraising events. To donate auction items contact ASEV-ES directly. Donation forms are also available online at asev-es.org.

The program emphasizes strategies, approaches, and niche network strategies with the goal of generating winery revenue and profitability. It is geared to owners, operators, general managers, marketers, tourism professionals, and anyone in a winery that has a responsibility to impact sales results. LTS is a perennial favorite and with its focus on wine marketing issues as explained here particular to Eastern states and markets, it is a natural fit for EWE. The program is chaired by Donniella Winchell, Executive Director of the Ohio Wine Producers Association. LTS will take place March 23-24, 2017.

EWE is the largest production wine industry conference and trade show east of the Rockies dedicated to wineries and growers. The event features a full day of in-depth, theme-focused Workshops on March 22, followed by a two-day Conference with sessions on Viticulture, Enology and Marketing, and a trade show featuring 200+ industry exhibitors. And Donnie Winchell’s experience in marketing programming and her network of marketing experts will benefit the entire Eastern industry.”

Added Donniella Winchell, “License to Steal is elated to be partnering with the largest and most respected wine conference and trade show in the East. After 12 years of offering a stand-alone marketing event, the EWE venue will allow LTS attendees to continue sharing dynamic marketing ideas but with an even wider audience during two energizing days in Syracuse.
