Peter Bell of Fox Run Vineyards Named to EWE Conference Advisory Board

September 3, 2020

Richard Leahy, EWE Conference Manager, has appointed Peter Bell, Winemaker of Fox Run Vineyards in New York’s Finger Lakes wine region, to the Conference Advisory Board. Bell has been the winemaker at Fox Run Vineyards since 1995. He holds degrees in Enology from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, Australia and in Anthropology from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He worked as a winemaker in Australia and New Zealand before coming to the Finger Lakes region of New York in 1990 as head winemaker at Dr. Frank’s. Peter was also an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Food Science at Cornell University for many years.

“I’m pleased to name Peter to the EWE Conference Advisory Board,” says Leahy. “His long-standing expertise in making fine wines in the Finger Lakes is augmented by his degree and winemaking experience in Australia and New Zealand. He has presented as a speaker at the Eastern Winery Exposition over the years, and he is highly respected both at EWE and in the industry at large.”

Leahy added that Bell will be speaking in four sessions at the 2021 Eastern Winery Exposition in Syracuse, and that Bell has a reputation for expertise in fortified wines and Riesling, topics he will be addressing at that time. Also, says Leahy, “he plays a mean banjo.”
