Jeff came to Lucas Vineyards with a background in restaurant management. He started at Lucas in 1996, raw and excited about the budding Finger Lakes wine industry. He worked in various capacities at the winery before moving exclusively into the cellar. He worked with owner Ruth Lucas for a few vintages before taking the reins as winemaker. He has a passion for Finger Lakes riesling and cabernet franc. He also enjoys working with hybrid varieties like Cayuga white which help balance the product line for Lucas Vineyards customers’ desires. Over the years Lucas has won many awards including Best New World Sparkling Wine for a bottle fermented Cayuga white wine.
