Head Winemaker

Born near Philadelphia, Julia found herself in the Finger Lakes by way of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. There she studied French, Francophone Studies and Women’s Studies, before spending time abroad after graduation in both France and Senegal. In 2009 she took a job in the tasting room at Fox Run Vineyards on Seneca Lake, where her interest in winemaking soon took her from the tasting room into the cellar. In December 2013 she took a full-time position as assistant winemaker at Sheldrake Point Winery. From January to April of 2015 she took a sabbatical to work in South Australia as the night shift white winemaker at Yalumba Winery, Australia’s oldest family winery. She then returned to Sheldrake Point until her transition to Hosmer Winery, where she has served as head winemaker since January 2017.
