Joyce has been involved with Eastern viticulture since the early 1980s. Her degree in Industrial Engineering has been advantageous, as she now applies those concepts and experience to business planning and winery design. In 2000 she began a vineyard management and winery design consulting firm and has consulted for vineyards and wineries in MD, NC, PA, RI, TN and VA. For seven years she taught viticulture and winery design in the Enology and Viticulture associate degree program at Harrisburg Area Community College in PA. Since 2019 she has been the Vineyard Manager for Boxwood Estate Winery in Middleburg, VA.
