Joyce has been professionally involved with eastern viticulture since the early 1980s and has worked or consulted for vineyards and wineries in MD, NC, PA, RI, TN and VA. Her experience includes all aspects of vineyard management, business planning, winery design, plus a short time as winemaker. Her business partner and husband, Stephen Rigby, provides the winemaking expertise for the business. In addition to consulting, Joyce oversees day-to-day vineyard operations and Stephen oversees winemaking at Boxwood Estate Winery in Middleburg. Joyce is a member of the Virginia Vineyards Association, the Maryland Grape Growers Association, and the American Society of Enology and Viticulture–Eastern Section.
