Vineyard Manager & Winemaker

Karl is the vineyard manager/winemaker at Loving Cup Vineyard & Winery, Virginia’s only certified-organic vineyard and winery. Loving Cup has been growing organically since 2008 and has just finished its 11th vintage as a commercial winery. Karl was awarded the Virginia Vineyards Association’s Grape Grower of the Year Award after the 2018 season, during which Loving Cup survived 100+ inches of rain. Karl credits Loving Cup’s success to his focus on disease-resistant grape varieties, the power of teamwork, and his desire to farm with humility.
