Lee Hartman accidentally fell into the world of wine at the age of 23, but has since made it his life’s work. Beginning with planting Bluestone’s 24 acres with vines in 2008, he worked with his parents to build the winery in 2010, and opened the tasting room in 2011. Since opening, Lee has earned Gold and Double Gold on both coasts, in Virginia and International competitions. While building his own farm he has also invited other local farmers to plant grapes, helping them develop vineyards himself when needed. As a farmer first,he encourages wine drinkers to visit his farm and his home: the Shenandoah Valley.
